Come with us to the Jerez Kings Day Parade

The Epiphany is celebrated all over Spain with the re-enactment of the arrival of the 3 Kings – Los Reyes Magos, and this year TOMA & COE has exclusive ring-side seats for this magnificent parade thanks to our friends in Jerez.

King’s Day is the culmination of the Spanish holiday season and children all over Andalucia will be eagerly awaiting their arrival as the Three Kings come laden with gifts, and not just for the Christ Child.  Los Reyes arrive in a magnificent cavalcade on the night of the 5th January, and on the morning of the 6th children awake in delight as they see whether they received gifts if they were good, or Carbón if they were naughty.

In other parts of the world Father Christmas comes down the chimney and children leave an offering of food for the Reindeer. In Spain, they leave milk for the camels and awake on the 6th bright and early to find their gifts.

This is a very special celebration everywhere in Spain, but especially in the beautiful city of Jerez de la Frontera. One of the most quintessentially Andalusian of all the cities in the region, Jerez is host to one of the most spectacular parades or “Cabalgatas” of the entire country. Huge and elaborate floats carry the Kings through the Old Town to the delight of young and old alike.

Toma Tours have arranged a very special trip so you can experience the Kings parade with the locals.  Enjoy a guided walk around town before taking a birds eye view from a balcony right in the heart of the historical centre of the city.

This special one-off tour is as follows:

3pm: Pick up in Marbella, enjoy a chat with your guide Ivan along the way about the Christmas traditions in Andalusia and particularly in Jerez

5:30pm: Arrival to the house of our hostess in the old town of Jerez, where we will enjoy welcome drinks and a Sherry tasting.  There is a huge Spanish tradition for friends and families to gather in the central apartments of their friends to get the best possible views, so this is exactly what we will do!

6:15pm: A walk in Jerez old town with your guide who is a resident of Jerez, so you can truly absorb the atmosphere and the cavalcade.

7:30pm: Return to the balcony to enjoy a specially prepared Christmas selection of traditional nibbles;

Sherry from Andalucia – no Christmas is the same without it!

Anís to accompany the Christmas sweets

Jamón Ibérico

Queso Payoyo

Tortilla de patatas (home made).

Local picos.

And then a selection of typical Spanish Christmas sweets (to be enjoyed ideally with a glass of Anis).

Pestiños (home made)

Turrón: from a local pastry shop.

Polvorones from Estepa near Seville.

8:15pm: We will enjoy Cavalcade watching from the Balcony and drinks.

9:30pm: Departure from Jerez.

11:45pm: Arrival back in Marbella

The price of the tour will vary from €117 to €235 according to the number of people booking, but as Toma are a boutique agency we only have 8 spaces available so hurry to book yours!
