Gibraltar Rock Tour
A private half-day tour inside the Rock, from Europa Point to the Great Siege Tunnels
Gibraltar Rock Tour
Gibraltar rewards the traveller who goes past Main Street. This private half-day tour takes you inside the Rock itself — through the Great Siege Tunnels carved by the British during the eighteenth-century siege, into the limestone chambers of St Michael’s Cave, and up to Europa Point, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic and, on a clear day, Africa is visible across the Strait.
You’ll also meet Gibraltar’s most photographed residents, the Barbary macaques — Europe’s only wild primates — at the Upper Rock Nature Reserve.
The tour runs as a private half-day, morning or afternoon, with your own driver collecting you from the Costa del Sol. A passport is required at the Spain-Gibraltar border.
Highlights
- Visit Europa Point, the gateway between the Atlantic and Mediterranean sea
- Visit the Great Siege Tunnels for a fascinating journey back in time
- Walk through St Michael’s Cave, an impressive natural underworld
- Visit the Top of The Rock Nature Reserve and meet the Barbary Apes, Gibraltar’s most famous residents
ALL TOURS ARE AVAILABLE AS PRIVATE TOURS FOR YOU OR YOUR FAMILY/GROUP/PARTY

A Rock Tour typically covers Europa Point, St Michael’s Cave, the Great Siege Tunnels, and the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, home to Gibraltar’s Barbary macaques. Ours runs privately, with a driver and guide dedicated to your own group rather than folded into a shared coach.
Yes. Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory with its own border control, so a valid passport (or EU national ID card, for EU citizens) is required to cross from Spain.
A private tour removes the queuing, fixed timings, and shared itinerary that come with a coach group — useful in Gibraltar, where border crossings and cave access can otherwise eat into the time available at each site.
March through September gives the clearest weather for the Upper Rock viewpoints, though the Rock Tour runs year-round.
Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory.
The apes are wild animals and should be treated as such. There are rules around what you should and shouldn’t do near them, follow those and you will be safe.
The official currency is the Gibraltar pound, and like the Scottish pound it is linked to pound sterling, which is accepted everywhere. A few places will accept euros. Payment by debit or credit card is easier.
Prices are closer to British than Spanish prices for many things. However, as there is no VAT, some things are cheaper in Gibraltar.
The British dug the Siege Tunnels, or Upper Galleries, during the Great Siege of Gibraltar in the late 18th century.
Reviews
Our trip to Gibraltar with TOMA & COE: We learned about the areas history as well as it’s current growth even as we enjoyed amazing views, climbed through the “The Rock’s” caves and tunnels and witnessed a crafty Barbary Ape as she broke into our car and stole a pack of gum!
