Magnificent Granada Tour
A private guided day trip from the Costa del Sol to one of Europe's most extraordinary cities'
Magnificent Granada Tour
Granada is one of those cities that stops people in their tracks. Sitting between the Sierra Nevada and the fertile plains of the vega, it carries the layered weight of Moorish, Christian and Jewish history. This full-day private tour from the Costa del Sol brings Granada within reach and puts one of Spain’s most knowledgeable guides at your side for every step of it.
The centrepiece of the day is the Alhambra: the Nasrid palace complex that remains, six centuries after its completion, one of the most breathtaking works of architecture in the world. Your TOMA & COE guide holds skip-the-line access — essential, as Alhambra tickets sell out weeks in advance — and will lead you through the Nasrid Palaces, with their famously intricate plasterwork and serene courtyard fountains, the Alcazaba fortress, and the Generalife gardens, where the Emirate’s summer palace is framed by terraced waterways and rose beds.
The afternoon turns to the city itself. The Albaicín — Granada’s ancient Moorish quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site — climbs the hillside opposite the Alhambra in a maze of whitewashed carmen houses, cobbled callejones and hidden plazas. From the Mirador de San Nicolás, the views back across to the Alhambra and the snow-capped sierra behind it are among the most celebrated in Spain. The Capilla Real, the royal mausoleum of Ferdinand and Isabella, offers a quieter but equally resonant encounter with Granada’s history — the monarchs whose reign ended eight centuries of Moorish rule are buried here beneath one of the finest pieces of Isabelline Gothic sculpture in existence.
The tour departs from the Costa del Sol with private transport provided. All entrance fees and skip-the-line Alhambra access are arranged by TOMA & COE. Available as a private tour for individuals, couples and groups.

Tour Summary
TOMA & COE offers private guided day tours to Granada from the Costa del Sol, including Marbella and surrounding resorts. The tour covers the Alhambra (with skip-the-line access to the Nasrid Palaces, Alcazaba and Generalife gardens), the Albaicín Moorish quarter and the Capilla Real. Private transport is included from the Costa del Sol. All Alhambra tickets are secured in advance by TOMA & COE, which is essential as they routinely sell out weeks ahead.
Granada’s three unmissable sites are the Alhambra palace complex, the Albaicín quarter and the Capilla Real. The Alhambra — a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising the Nasrid Palaces, Alcazaba fortress and Generalife summer gardens — is the defining monument of Moorish Spain. The Albaicín, Granada’s medieval Islamic neighbourhood, offers the most celebrated view of the Alhambra from its Mirador de San Nicolás viewpoint. The Capilla Real houses the tombs of Ferdinand and Isabella, the Catholic monarchs who ended Moorish rule in 1492.
You will also find out about the Christian reconquest of Granada, the significance of Christopher Columbus in this period of its history, and how the city has become the magnificent destination it is today.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Granada is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours from Marbella by road, making it a very manageable day trip. TOMA & COE runs private guided day tours from the Costa del Sol that include skip-the-line Alhambra access, a guided tour of the Nasrid Palaces and Generalife, and an afternoon in the Albaicín and city centre. Private transport is included.
Yes, this is essential. Alhambra tickets, particularly for the Nasrid Palaces, sell out weeks and sometimes months in advance, especially in spring and summer. TOMA & COE secures skip-the-line access as part of the tour booking, so you do not need to arrange tickets separately. Do not plan a Granada visit without pre-booked Alhambra entry.
The tour includes private return transport from the Costa del Sol, a fully guided visit to the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces, Alcazaba and Generalife), a walking tour of the Albaicín quarter and Mirador de San Nicolás, a visit to the Capilla Real (Royal Chapel) where Ferdinand and Isabella are buried, and your TOMA & COE expert guide throughout the day.
A private guided day tour is the most rewarding option. Driving independently means navigating Alhambra ticketing, parking restrictions and the complex layout of the old city without local knowledge. TOMA & COE’s private tour handles logistics, secures skip-the-line Alhambra access in advance, and provides a knowledgeable guide who can bring Granada’s extraordinary history to life throughout the day.
The Albaicín is Granada’s ancient Moorish quarter, built on a hillside facing the Alhambra. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval Islamic urban areas in Europe. Its narrow, cobbled streets, traditional carmen houses (homes with enclosed gardens) and viewpoints offer some of the most evocative and photogenic scenes in Andalusia. The Mirador de San Nicolás, at the quarter’s highest point, provides the iconic view across to the Alhambra with the Sierra Nevada as a backdrop.
The Alhambra is consistently ranked among the most visited monuments in Spain and one of the finest surviving examples of Moorish architecture in the world. The Nasrid Palaces — with their layered plasterwork, geometric tiling and reflecting pools — are genuinely unlike anything else in Europe. For travellers visiting Andalusia, the Alhambra is an essential experience. Visiting with a knowledgeable guide significantly deepens the experience, as much of the palace’s symbolism and historical context is invisible without interpretation.
The main sights in Granada are the Alhambra, Generalife Palace, Cathedral, Royal Chapel, take in the views from Mirador de San Nicolas, explore the Albaicin neighbourhood and the Basilica de San Juan de Dios.
You can’t ‘do’ any city in one day, but you can see the Alhambra, enjoy lunch in one of the many tapas bars and restaurants, and spend a couple of hours exploring one of the neighbourhoods. Our tour provides you with the best highlights in one day. For a longer bespoke tour, contact us for details.
Granada has a spirit which embodies Andalucia. A rich history, friendly people, free tapas when you order a drink, narrow winding streets, traditional Flamenco, a warm climate, and that’s without talking about the main attractions. Add in the Alhambra, Cathedral and Generalife Palace and that is why Granada is so popular.
Whilst the Alhambra and the Nasrid and Generalife palaces are the main attractions in Granada, there is still plenty to do. The cathedral, royal chapel and basilica of San Juan de Dios give you an insight into the Christian reconquest of the city. Walking the neighbourhood of Albaicin and enjoying the view from Mirador de San Nicolas gives you a taste of the Arabic influence.
Granada is worth visiting all year round, but it does get cold in winter and very hot in the main summer months. May and June, September and October are the most comfortable months for walking around the city of Granada.
Reviews
Wonderful private trip from Seville to the Alhambra
My 12 year old daughter and I took his trip at the beginning of June. We were collected promptly from our hotel in an air conditioned MPV and driven to a recommended restaurant in Granada, with a wonderful view of the Alhambra. Robert met us at the arranged time, but as I had failed to let the waiting staff now we were on a deadline was very accommodating and told us he would return in an hour. We relaxed and enjoyed the rest of our lunch in this glorious location. Robert than collected us and walked us through the town and up to the citadel, where he proceeded to share his extensive knowledge of the history of the Alhambra and the surrounding area. Robert was an enthusiastic and friendly guide and the time flew! We were then collected at the car park and returned to our hotel. Everything was very easy and we had a wonderful day! Communication with Toma & Coe was also very good, it all went as planned. Very happy customers here and we recommend this trip to anyone staying in Seville long enough to spend a day outside of it!
