Guided Hiking Tours from Málaga
Walk a stage of one of Europe's great pilgrimage routes: guided, adaptable, and completely private
Malaga Hiking Tours with Guide
The Camino Mozárabe is one of the oldest and least-walked routes on the Camino de Santiago and it begins right here in Málaga. On this guided day hike, you walk a section of that ancient pilgrimage trail through the Andalucian countryside with a knowledgeable TOMA & COE guide at your side.
This is not a sightseeing tour. It is a genuine slice of the pilgrim experience: the footpaths, the landscape, the history and the quiet that comes with walking a route people have been walking for nearly a thousand years. It is also entirely private and adapted to your group — pace, distance and terrain are all chosen on the day to suit you.

Tour Summary
On this guided Malaga hiking tour, we delve into the wonderful world of pilgrimages, their purpose, their tradition, their history, their cultural relevance.
The Camino de Santiago is one of the most famous pilgrimage routes in Europe. The destination is Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, in the northwest of Spain.
There are many routes from the north, south, east and west. The route we take is called the Camino Mozárabe and it begins in Málaga, stretching through the heartlands of Andalucía to Córdoba and beyond, before it meets with another route, La Vía de la Plata in the city of Mérida in Extremadura.
Your guide will bring the history of the Camino alive as you walk: the Mozarabs who first travelled these paths, the medieval pilgrimage tradition, the wildlife and flora of the Málaga sierra.
At the end of the walk, lunch at a TOMA & COE-recommended restaurant. Then your private vehicle returns you to your accommodation.
On this fabulous guided walks day tour, we can adapt the route according to your party´s ability and also to suit the weather.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Camino Mozárabe is one of the main southern routes of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. It begins in Málaga, at the Iglesia de Santiago on Calle Granada, and travels north through Andalucía to Córdoba and Extremadura, eventually joining the Vía de la Plata at Mérida before continuing to Santiago de Compostela. It takes its name from the Mozarabs — Christians who lived under Moorish rule in Al-Andalus and walked this route to reach the tomb of St James.
Yes. TOMA & COE adapt the route on the day to suit the ability and fitness of your group. Sections of the Camino Mozárabe range from easy, flat stretches suitable for most walkers to more challenging hillside terrain. Your guide will choose the most appropriate stage for your party. Comfortable walking shoes or light hiking boots are recommended; no specialist equipment is required.
Good walking shoes or hiking boots, sun protection, and a water bottle. TOMA & COE provide private transport to and from the starting point, and lunch at a local restaurant is included at the end of the walk. If you have hiking poles and prefer to use them, bring them along.
Yes. TOMA & COE offer a private guided day walk along a stage of the Camino Mozárabe — the Camino de Santiago route that starts in Málaga. It is ideal for those who want to experience the Camino without committing to the full pilgrimage, or who are planning the longer journey in 2027 (a Holy Year on the Camino) and want to walk the first stage first.
The best months for hiking near Málaga are October to June. Spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November) offer ideal walking temperatures and the countryside at its most beautiful. TOMA & COE do not run this tour in July and August due to the heat, but it is available on flexible dates throughout the rest of the year.
