Off-grid holidays and activities in Spain

A growing travel trend over the past few years has been off-grid holidays. Off-grid doesn’t have to mean roughing it. Instead, imagine beautiful accommodation in secluded settings, reconnecting with nature or taking time to grab some inner peace with a hike along the Camino de Santiago.

If you’re looking for the chance to explore Spain’s secret spaces, disconnect from the digital world, and reconnect with the simple life, then an off-grid holiday with Toma & Coe could be just the solution.

There are many ways to go off-grid, but what they all have in common is stepping away from the hustle and bustle of our day-to-day lives.

Walk the Camino de Santiago

Camino de Santiago

The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St. James, is the network of pilgrimage routes to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. Since mediaeval times it has seen pilgrims journey to the believed resting place of St James.

Every day, as you set your own pace and head towards the next stop you have the chance to soak up your surroundings. Search inside yourself. Meditate. Start and end the day with stretches to keep your mind and body supple.

In 2023, Toma & Coe have three Camino tours. Join us with Erin Fleming of Yogadeva from the United States, as we combine daily yoga with the last 108km stretch to Santiago. Our second tour is one of meditation, whilst the third in October 2023 is a writer’s inspirational journey. For more details, contact us.

Live the simple life for a while

finca in the countryside

With a low population to area ratio, it’s not hard to find rural retreats in Andalucia, where you can spend quality time with your loved ones and disconnect.

Say adios to your smartphones in locations that are deliberately disconnected from mainstream power sources. If that is a step too far, you can still find peace and solitude with mains electricity and internet connection. Either way, flick the OFF switch and immerse yourself in stunning surroundings from lakes and clear rivers to mountains and small towns. Star-gaze from your finca where zero light pollution allows you to see the heavens in all their glory.

Away from the madding crowds, you can relax and enjoy the simple life.

Get adventurous

Go wild in the country with travel centred around natural attractions and adrenalin adventures. Walk the Caminito del Rey, kayak or paddlesurf along the coastline, or get in the saddle and head into the countryside on horseback.

Many rural retreats are situated near rivers which form secluded pools where you can swim or bob about on a lilo enjoying the silence of the space. Alternatively, pull on your walking shoes and stroll the rivers in the summer, or head into the hills and mountains of Andalucia, taking in the flora and fauna.

However, you picture your off-grid adventure, let Toma & Coe be your guide.
