An Incredible Private Tour to Soulful Morocco and the UNESCO Medina of Tetouan
TOMA & COE can organise a trip to Morocco which will take you to the heart and soul of Northern Africa – the Medina of Tetouan, which is now a world heritage site protected by UNESCO.
Our route to Tetouan takes us over the Straits of Gibraltar from Algeciras to the Spanish city of Ceuta. Once there, our guides will drive us across the border and a short 30 miles southwards to the city of Tetouan.
Our local guide will show you around the incredible Medina with its 600 years of history; its markets, Hammams, Mosques and even a synagogue. After the expulsion of the Moors and Jews from Spain after 1492, many of them settled here and rebuilt the ruined Arabic city. At its height there were 16 synagogues; only one remains.
The fascinating history of this UNESCO treasure will be brought to life and you will witness firsthand the heart and soul of Morocco. You will enjoy a wonderful traditional lunch and then a little free time for shopping, taking photographs and simply absorbing the atmosphere. The Medina delights all of the senses and has inspired great writers and artists.
On our way home we will drive by the Eastern shoreline for you to see the development of Moroccan tourism. Luxury and exclusive resorts are popping up all along this coast which is a favourite with the Moroccan Royal family. You will have the opportunity to ride a camel on the beach which will be the “icing on the cake” of this unforgettable day out.
