White Andalucian Villages – Medina Sidonia and Vejer de la Frontera in Cadiz

White villages tour of Cadiz

Once called the most beautiful village in Andalucia, Vejer is a treat to all of the senses.  With an enviable position on a lofty outcrop with views over the Straits of Gibraltar, Vejer never failed to capture the imagination of her visitors.

From 711 until the 13th century Arabs lived here, and it is no surprise that Vejer´s twin sister is Chefchaouen just across in Morocco. They are very similar in character.  The Christian patron “ The Virgin of the Olive” has a sanctuary in the valley below the town.

These days, Vejer de la Frontera is enjoying fame as a foodie mecca as it gains momentum as the gastronomical heart of Andalucia

Medina Sidonia is a majestic town, surprisingly “monumental” for its size and brimming with formal mansions, churches and palaces.  Home of one of the most famous ducal titles in all of Spain, the Dukes of Medina are now in their 20th generation.

Believed to be one of the oldest settlements in Europe we will enjoy a drive up to the very top of the town to enjoy the marvelous views from within the old city walls. We will then stroll down through the winding cobbled streets to the main square below for a coffee in one of the many local cafes.
