Why Purebred Spanish Horses Stand Head and Shoulders Above the Rest

Spanish horses in JerezKnown for its nobility, strength and poise the P.R.E (Pura Raza Española) Purebred Spanish Horse is a marvelous specimen that draws gasps from the crowd as it performs at the Real Escuela Ecuestre, the Spanish Royal School of Equestrian Art in Jerez de la Frontera.

A recognized breed since the 1600s, images of Kings and Queens from the late 17th Century onwards show that the Spanish horse was a favourite.

One reason for this could be simply their size – they stand at only 15 hands, and Kings and Queens were tiny back in the day, so this horse must have been easier for them to mount and dismount with elegance.

But more probably, it was chosen for its character. Loyal, stoic and incredibly athletic, this horse is capable of performing movements of extreme grace and difficulty….
