Wonderful (understatement) Wine Weekend!
Myself and my husband spent three amazing days on the “Wonderful Wine Weekend” tour organised by Toma and Coe at the end of September. The “wonderful” in the name really doesn’t do this tour justice. We visited 5 bodegas over 3 days ranging from small, family-run, up and coming set-ups (e.g Vetas) that are not open to the general public to the more commercial, large scale setup ups (e.g Alvear). We tasted 21 different wines (and bought wines at everyone one to bring home, such was the quality at every one). The vineyards themselves are set in some of the most scenic countryside I have had the pleasure to be sat drinking wine in – tastings varied from learning the processes of each vineyard and having a shared table tasting to sitting in a leafy garden with tapas, just putting the world to rights over a bottle of wine with the owner. A truely unique experience. The wine is not the only thing to shout about on this tour though – the food was an unexpected highlight. We ate so well at every meal, so if you are a foodie and like your wine… this tour is for you!!! We were so happy to share the 3 days we had with our guide Manni who was knowledgable, friendly, accomodating and by the end it felt like we were being shown around by a friend rather than a guide. The accomodation throughout the holiday (inc. the extra night in Malaga to begin) was top notch… I wont go into detail but they do save the best for last when it comes to wine, food and hotels too! Everything just got better and better. I cannot recommend this tour enough and even having just got back from it I would do it again in a heartbeat. Worth every penny! Thank you Toma&Coe!
